Teaching

With over 15 years playing experience, and 4 years full time teaching experience, I have a diverse and broad musical background, enabling me to teach a wide variety of skills to students of all abilities. I currently teach students of a variety of ages and levels in the Surrey area. Lessons are conducted either at my home in Woking on my electric or acoustic kit, or where suitable I can travel to students.

An aspect I like to reflect in my lessons, is that learning an instrument should always be fun and a positive experience, rather than a chore. My lessons are structured in a fun and creative way including reading, techniques, rudiments, improvisation, styles and grooves. Each student has unique abilities and goals, and lessons will be tailored to suit these.

Prices are competitive and detailed below:
1 hour - £24
45 mins - £11.50
30 mins - £13
5 percent discount if 7 or more lessons are paid for in advance.
A travel surcharge may apply depending on the location of the student's home.

If there are 2 or more people wanting to learn at the same time, group lessons can be organised. Please email for a quote.

As well as teaching privately, I travel to 11 schools to teach for Southern Counties Music Service. More information can be found at www.scampsmusic.com

If your are a keen beginner eager to pick up an instrument, coming back to music after a break, or looking to build upon your skills, it can help to have someone there to bounce ideas off, take you in a different direction or fill in the gaps in your knowledge.

Below are some testimonials of my teaching:

"It's great for our son to be taught drums by a young, enthusiastic and dynamic teacher. Gemma, you are a great role model; not only do you believe that a good discipline makes good musicians, but also that great fun should be had, too."

Mrs B worthington, Ascot

"Gemma has taught my son George that drums for almost a year. She is an extremely energetic and enthusiastic person and certainly makes the absolute most of her lesson time with George. She makes the lessons fun and instils a desire to learn as he wants to pracise so he is ready for his next lesson. I have no hesitation recommending Gemma to any prospective musician!"

Mrs J Cropper, Guildford

"My daughter has both drum and piano lessons with Gemma. She has made great progress and enjoys her lessons. Gemma entered her for grade 1 after just 8 months of lessons, and she achieved a distinction. We have recommended Gemma to friends and would have no hesitation in doing so again."

Mrs C Garbutt, Woking
